Hannah Probst is a performance historian, critical theorist, and dramaturg, working at the intersections of sexuality studies and German theatre history. Their dissertation project studies queer, trans and feminist performance cultures in the German Democratic Republic, theorizing the relationship between sexual politics, (anti)theatricality, and political economy in real-existing socialism. They have also worked ethnographically, publishing on queer subcultural performance in Berlin and conducting theatre for social change projects with the Institute for Theatre Studies and the Centre of Competence for Theatre in Leipzig. Hannah is a member of the Clusters in Critical Theory and Gender and Sexuality Studies at Northwestern. They have presented their work at International Federation for Theatre Research, the American Society for Theatre Research, and the Mid-America Theatre Conference. They hold an MA in Transcultural Theatre Studies from the Universität Leipzig (2023) and a BA in Drama and Law, Societies and Justice from the University of Washington (2019).
